In my time as a clinician, I have had to answer several questions and dispel umpteen anxieties from patients. Most anxieties are genuine, and so are the myriad of unending questions. But every now and again, something comes up that has no straight answers.Recently a young couple asked me why doctors are fond of physically examining patients, seemingly touching and prodding all conceivable places in attempts to make a diagnosis.Is there no viable alternative? And can patients chose not to be physically touched by doctors? The answer is somewhere in between, a plain yes and no.

The term ‘kicking the bucket’ is fairly well known, and what it implies. It was popularized by two men in a 2007 movie. They had terminal illnesses, and decided to actualize their dreams before kicking the bucket. They came up with a ‘bucket list’ of stuff they wanted to do before they died.You can borrow a leaf from the two gentlemen and come up with a bucket list for your own health. This would translate into optimal health for most of your days. You won’t then need to wait until you are in the process of dying to really live your life.You can live it here and now, by consciously taking simple steps to keep ahead with your health.

Abortion today may mean future infertility

In my many years of practice of obstetrics and gynecology I have attended to thousands of women suffering from infertility due to many causes including abortion, legal or illegal.Recently, I had this patient, who is now 40 years old; she has been married for over 7 years with no child. She came to me for an opinion, she had an ultrasound scan test, after the tests, I noticed that the endometrial cavity was thin and fibrosed with evidence of adhesion.
